Long-press and hold a button on the button pad to repeat it; useful for speeding through combat or dialogue. Double-click start for the escape menu. I haven't played X-2 yet, don't know how the bindings will work for that one.

combined playtime FFX auto level config features two activators. The left paddle has a double tap activator bound to left stick forward, the right paddle has a double tap activator set to A. How this works, you simply turn on the spectial features in game. Set Turbo to x4, Set battle encounters to frequent, and turn on auto battling. Then activate both activators and watch the sphere levels just flow in.
